Sightseeing Places In And Around Chennai

Marina Beach

Marina Beach is considered as the second longest urban beach in the world although there exist in fact several longer beaches.

Semmozhi Poonga

Semmozhi Poonga (literally translated to "Classical Language Park") is a botanical garden set up by the horticulture department of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Pulicat Lake

Pulicat Lake is a scenic destination, where the atmosphere is serene and you can have a completely relaxed day. Boat rides are very popular here and while at boat, you are allowed to indulge in fishing. This is a great place for bird watching.

Kapaleeswarar Temple

Kapaleeswarar Temple is one of the oldest temples in the city. It is believed that the Temple was built during the 7th century by Pallava Kings. However the architecture is not as old, as they seem to be around 400 years old.

Hence, it is considered that Portuguese destroyed the original temple and the present construction belongs to the 16th century. The temple stands a classic example of the Dravidian style of sculpture and architecture.
